Winter Downunder

It's been a while since I  have posted  because we have been busy selling our house, decluttering and then moving.  I suppose that is  a good reason, especially as we had been in our house for 53 years so there was a lot of decluttering, deciding what to get rid of and what to keep and many trips to our local charity shop with boxes of treasures for them.  I sure hope I don't have to move again as it's quite an effort and exhausting.

Since my last blog, about 6 months ago, we  have moved to a smaller house and we have some easier walking trails near us and are trying to get out a bit more. It is now winter and we are not keen to walk in the rain, must be getting old - excuses, excuses!  Both of us have some arthritis which although I know it is better to exercise, we do find it hard to get started as it is quite painful, but once we get going it does seem to ease up a bit. Well, that's enough of the whingeing,  let me show you some photos I have taken on our walks.

The river on our walk

The paved pathway makes an easy walk

The pedestrian bridge over the O-bahn track which leads to a golf course and coffee shop

The O-Bahn Busway is a guided busway that is part of the bus rapid transit system servicing the northeastern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia.

We stop here at the coffee shop just over the bridge and enjoy spending some time watching the golfers.  We might even have a hit ourselves one day.

The creek near us flooded a few days ago

The trail follows 30km of river from Athelstone, where the Torrens emerges from the Adelaide Hills, through to Adelaide CBD.

Lined with river red gums and reed  beds, the trail is an oasis in the city and suburbs. With numerous playgrounds, picnic spots, duck-feeding spots and toilets along the route.

Not much in flower here in winter

Sunset from our new house

So, having now been in our new house for about 6 months, I finally feel more settled and our life is much easier and a bit slower now, I hope I can find enough to post about.

  1. I love your posts! It's so interesting to see the scenery there in Australia, which is so alike in so many ways and so different in others to what we see here in Washington State. Please keep up with posting! Even the difference in seasons is very interesting!

  3. Decluttering and moving are now on my mind; both issues are not simple at all. Decluttering because I get attached sentimentally to items; moving because I haven't found yet the right place to move to.
Wishing you to enjoy your new house and landscape!
