The Lighthouse is an icon in Port Adelaide.  It was first lit in 1869 and originally stood at the entrance to the Port River.

This bridge over the Port River is named The Tom "Diver" Derrick Bridge.  It is an opening bridge to allow river traffic into the port area.  Tom Derrick was an Australian soldier and a recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest decoration for gallantry in the face of thenemy, awarded to members of the British and Commonwealth armed forces.

The One and All is not a replica, it is based on the original rig af an 1850's brigantine, and is constructed of timber to modern standards.  It is owned by the South Australian government and is a Tall Ship sail training vessel.

Flinders Ranges, South Australia

These photos were taken at or near Rawnsley Park, in the Flinders Ranges.  Over many years we have had holidays in this area, some in a tent when we were younger, then in our caravan when our children had "left the nest".

The Wall of China is the name given to the raised area on top of the hill as closer up it does resemble a wall but it is a natural stone outcrop.

Kimba, South Australia

My theme this week is from our trip from South Australia to Western Australia.

South Australia has many small country towns that many people just drive straight through or perhaps only stop for fuel, and we have done the same too, but I am hoping to show a bit more of our little towns.

Silo art

Melbourne artist Cam Scale took 26 days and 200 litres of paint to complete the art work on the Viterra silo.

The Big Cockatoo at Kimba

Kimba is halfway across Australia between Sydney and Perth

Kimba free camp area at the Recreation Park, nice and flat

Kimba has several areas where camping is free and we have stayed there a few times.  The local council have provided a great area in the Recreation Park where toilets and showers are provided with only a small fee and a donation box.  The last time we stayed there,  the Pony Club were using the area and we enjoyed watching them go through their routines, just something to do while having an afternoon drink!
